
What is PPAP (Production Part Approval Process)?
PPAP is an industry standard used in the automotive and aerospace supply chains. Its purpose is to confirm the quality of parts supplied by manufacturers and their production processes.
PPAP consists of 5 submission levels and 18 essential elements, although not all are always necessary. These elements are requested to provide or keep by the suppliers themselves according to the submission levels.
PPAP Submission Levels
Level 1
Part Submission Warrant (PSW) Only. Suppliers submit the PSW, which includes basic information about the part and its compliance with design specifications.
Level 2
In addition to the PSW, suppliers provide product samples and some supporting data.
Level 3
PSW with Product Samples and Complete Supporting Data.
Level 4
Suppliers meet additional requirements specified by the customer.
Level 5
If necessary, suppliers address specific customer demands beyond the standard PPAP elements.
