Differences of Plastic Resin

Plastic materials are mainly divided into two categories based on temperature effect: thermosetting plastics and thermoplastic plastics.

Thermosetting Plastic

Once thermosetting plastics harden due to a cross-linking reaction caused by heating, they cannot be reheated or shaped.

Common thermoplastic include: phenolic resin (PF), urea resin (UF), melamine resin (MF), epoxy resin (EP), unsaturated polyester (UP), polyurethane resin (PU), silicone resin, silicone, and dipropylene glycol (PDAP), etc.

Thermoplastic

Thermoplastic can be repeatedly heated to melt and then cooled to solidify; they have the advantages of high heat resistance and are not easily deformed when heated.

TSC Enterprise has focused on thermoplastic molding techniques for many years.
Can provide you with the best OEM manufacturing services for your thermoplastic molding development projects.

Common thermoplastic includes: PC, ABS, PC/ABS, PMMA, PP, Nylon, and they can be divided into Commodity Plastic, Engineering Plastic, Elastomer and Alloys.

Common thermoplastic are widely used in daily necessities and electronic products due to their low cost and wide range of applications. Among them, there are five major general-purpose plastics that are commonly used.

Semi-transparent, corrosion-resistant, non-toxic, low cost; further divided into HDPE and LDPE

Plastic bags, heat-shrink film, bottles

Polypropylene

PP

Acid/alkali resistant, heat resistant, high toughness

Food containers, medical equipment, household items

Polyvinyl Chloride

PVC

Stable material, highly formable, resistant to acids and alkalis

Electrical wires, fiber optic sheathing, auxiliary medical equipment, gloves

Polystyrene

PS

High transparency, easy to dye, lower toughness

Plastic cutlery, stationery, household items

Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene

ABS

Milky white color, easy to process, impact resistant

Electronics casings, automotive parts

Engineering plastic, due to its strength, Wear-resistant and high-tensile , it’s used in industrial field as the material of mechanical parts.

Common Uses

Polyamide

PA (Nylon)

High wear resistance, good toughness, high water absorption which can easily affect dimensional stability

Automotive parts, eyeglass frames, mechanical equipment, gears, bearings

Polyoxymethylene (Acetal/Polyacetal)

POM

Good rigidity, can be used as a substitute for brass

Gears, bearings

聚碳酸酯

PC

Colorless, transparent, flame retardant, acid resistant, not oil resistant, not resistant to strong alkalis

Water bottles, baby bottles, lenses, headlights, luggage cases

Composite plastics are made by combining two or more types of plastics, such as PC/ABS, PC/PBT, and PA/PP.
